Speedo and Rev Counter

Postby Dave » Thu Jan 11, 2007 6:00 pm

Folks,
since my engine change i've encountered a problem with the speedo and rev counter, i've gone over the 3 month warranty and i can't bring it back to them, problem is, the rev counter doesn't work, and the speedo is out by about 10miles, this was not the case before, it seems to have only come into play the last few weeks, anyone got any suggestions on how to fix this or if not can anyone suggest who i can bring the car to, to get her recalibrated?

Just a thought but could you swop out the speedo/rev consol from your GS to the GPX and see if the problem replicates?

Hmm - May have a point depending on what was used to delimit the GPX - worth having a look in any case - its easy peasy to swop consols - worse case senario is you may need to disconnect the GPX delimiter wire from consol.

i'm just thinking, are the consoles the same, considering, different rev counter and things like that, i could switch the mother's gpx, but hers is a tip!! i have a feeling it's stemming from the delimiter switch anyhow!

Agrred, rip it out and see if the problem still occurs, I've heard of delimiters messing up instrument operation on a few occasions, it could simply be a loose connection.

Yeah you prolly have a delimter/coverter similar to mine so..

It doesn't actually remove the limit it just moves it to somewhere near 200mph rather than 200kmph - cause the car is born as a kmph car..

If you remove the delimiter it'll be back in kmph..and you'll be bolloxed if you try going over the 200kmph mark.. (bolloxed as in the limiter kicks in, and it's annoying)..

I'll try and post a shot of the wireing info I have later this evening - prolly wont be till around 10pm or so as I'm off to watch "Employee of the month" after work today..(Burger & Cinema - yay!!)
