GPx brakes on a GR

Anyone done this conversion?

I just bought a set of gpx brakes to install myself.

you must follow 3 steps :


1. remove gr brakes
2. fit gpx brakes
3. drink a pint and congratulate yourself for the diy job

Undertook this job on the GX, its an easy mod thats well worthwhile doing.

I certainly found the difference noticeable, the car will stop that bit quicker in all conditions, the twin pots inspire more confidence during every day driving. Mitsubishi skimped on the non-MIVEC breaks IMO, I don't rate the single pot caliper setup all that highly...

major difference ,
that would be one of my first mods on a GR/GX.

i done this and its a major difference. just make sure you have all the bits b4 you swop them over. just dont buy red stuff pads as i found them to be crap... either standard or mintex

What about installing a GTO bigger rotor and nissan skyline calipers&pads? some people seem to have that mod and they say that there is a huge improvement compared even to GPX standard brakes.
BTW,i have a GR and the brakes are even worse than a bigass van i rented some days ago lol

Only fronts... rear brakes are the same across all models iirc.

I bought them 2nd hand off a mate who had them on his gpx, but upgraded his setup to xyz's at £1000!!

Change over was easy... though I did have to tap out the caliper screw holes.

Hey guys,is it possible to fit without doing anything fancy(just remove the FTO ones and install the GTO ones) to install GTO front rotors and calipers/pads?

Edit:ok,how about lancer evo brembo ones? i heared that those fit perfectly,someone did that?

no they don't fit
there are some guys that build custom bracket adapters

the compatibility issues are at the points where the caliper body is fixed(screwed) to the knuckle. If the holes don't perfectly align, some guys build adapter brackets .. but that involves a second mounting point which inserts a variable(weak link) in the braking system .. which u don't really need

all u need is a good gpx braking 2 pot calipers.. and nothing more
polish them, lacquer them and they will look astonishing a shiny metallic look.

Thanks for the info mate.
I guess the guy on yahoo auctions who was selling GTO calipers saying 'can be used also on evo,legnums and ftos' was talking about installing that custom brackets.
I'll leave the brakes alone....for now lol
