Theres 8 different threads on this Mick. Click on the Search button and type "Mivec AND Controller" into the search field. You might find some reviews and opinions there... haven't used one myself but I have never heard great things about them. the factory ECU setup is normally the best of all angles. fuel economy, efficiency, power band etc.

On second thoughts I would not want to mess about with the engine setup, best to leave that to the experts.

Really not worth it in the FTO - the mivec point is already set at the optimum level - moving it around the rev band will only affect performance negatively.

Some actually come with a sort of "patch" plug..that makes it pretty simple to plug it out.
in eithercase anybody who knows a bit about wires should be able to remove it and reassemble the original loom.

I wouldn't mind doing it myself - especially not as I'm actually hooking one up to my own gpx at a later stage.

Another thing you might want to consider em is leaving it in place but just sticking it inside the center console instead so you don't have to look at it - easier than unhooking it.

If the Mivec controller works and and its not in the way of anything - I'd say leave it in. Will give you something to play around with if nothing else and could be a meaninful feature for someone else when you go to sell your FTO on.

it's only bad for the car if you put the changeover point somewhere silly, or increasre the rev limit.
