Engine knock

Hi all fto started to knock two days before m.o.t starts knocking as soon as started and increases with revs. think its rod knock but could it be anything else. Checked spark plugs removed each h.t lead but still there took belt of still there as its middle of month im skint so cant afford a garage any help would be.appreciated

What belt did you remove?

Could be main end bearings, was it starved of oil? What's the mileage?

Wasnt starved of oil took the alternater belt off its done 100,000 km tried a fuel cleaner and hi octane petrol now sounds like its a really lpud tappet

Well it's could be, is the noise coming from the head? It could be tappet/ hydraulic lifter noise.

Sounds like coming from the top of the rear bank wondered if i get an engine flush and do an oil change

I wouldn't be a fan of engine flush but some people say they work. I think Brccrx could guide you on best thing to do, maybe remove and clean and adjust valve clearance.
