Corrosion

Went to have a go at the adjustable shocks the other evening but didnt get too far. There seems to be a fair amount of corrosion preventing the rings from turning. Anyone know of something stronger than wd40 to get in through the corrosion and free the rings? Elbow grease doesnt work, already split one of the tightening rings

I take it you had the relevant side of the car jacked up at the time you were winding the springs??? May help if you have no load on the coilover???

WD40 and a wirebrush (not to be confused with Wirebrush 'n dettol!)
Take care not to mangle your fingers - and as Myfeckin' pointed out - only adjust the height when there's no load on the unit!*

Once you get yer ring free'd up again you might want to give it a bit of grease to stop this from happening again..**

Yep, had it jacked up. Think I'll give the old hammer and chisel a go...

Jesus mate .. be well careful with that!

Make sure to load it up with wd40 45mins before - then give it another go 15 mins before.. and again 5mins before.. Only use force where there's absolutely no other alternative.
