Nothing to do with the seatbelt - but the mivec engine does limit at 5500rpm when the oil is not properly warmed up.

yeah the car has a limiter at 5500 if its cold. If the engine is warmed up and its still limiting at 6k, it sounds like you may have a timing issue thats preventing the car engaging MIVEC.

If this problem has only started since you changed the timing belt then I'd be reasonably suspect as to how the timing belt was fitted - its not just a matter of whipping off the old one and slapping in the new - it needs to go on in exactly the correct position or I'd imagine you will have timing issues.

McGons recent guide is a good way to do the change - http://www.fto-ireland.com/forum/phpBB2 ... php?t=5027

the other good way is to give your FTO to a mechanic called Paul Nolan in Artane (details here - http://www.fto-ireland.com/parts.html )

If it's not on right now - you'll need to get it adjusted in.. now from what I've heard this can be a bit of a pig with quad cam cars..

I'd recommend Paul in a heart beat.

I suspect the not all of the sensors were reconnected after the head gasket was replaced. Were both head gaskets replaced.

Dont think the timing belt is at fault, should rev over 6K regardless. Open to correction here though.

Yes. Theres 3 sensors in the tip box (speed, input shaft and output shaft). Its likely that one of them is bust. Get busy with the diagnsotic.
