Coolant gauge not working

I'd rather be hated for what I am,

If the car runs smoothly from cold start & drives well (no overfuelling/sooty black smoke), then it'll most likely be a wiring issue, check the connection to the sender.

Yea, the car runs 100% its just the gauge in the dash thats not moving,
will check wiring....

The coolant temp sender is designed to do 1 simple thing, send a signal (in the form of electrical resistance)
to the ecu telling it which map to use. The sender for the gauge MAY be on the thermostat, so check there too, look for a single wire.

Try cleaning the contacts on the sender, if it doesn't make a difference...

THEN take Danny's advice

& buy a new one :lol: :lol: :P

the indicator in the dash has a different temp sensor which is located right under the radiator cap
this is the baby that does the job

it has only one wire that picks the signal relative to the ground (-) in which is screwed!

Just an update: took off connection cleaned with wd40 and worked straight away thanks lads :D
