Should I be worried?

Postby karlf » Thu Feb 19, 2009 5:20 pm

The last two mornings when I first turn on the car the engine management light comes on.(it goes off when I switch the car on and comes back on as soon as I put the car in gear) It stays on for a few seconds and then goes off. It doesn't come on except for first thing in the morning. I thought it might have something to do with the engine being cold. Anyone got any ideas?

Try checking for an error code - do a search for it, it involves earthing a pin on the diagnostic socket, and watch the management light blinking for the code.

Alternatively if someone near you has Evoscan or a MUT-II scanner and can connect to your car you could see if there are any error codes stored.

EDIT - here's how to get the code http://www.ftowa.com/html/workshop/workshopart07.html

The way you are describing it sounds normal to me. The light will come on when you turn on the key and once started it should go out after a few seconds. Reset the ECu and sere does it do the same thing. Sounds normal to me
