Very reluctant sale of my 1994 FTO GR Manual (I call it White Beast). After years of back packing and travelling, i'm finally going to give it a go moving abroad. Can't take the car with me, so she's going to have to go. Owned it for almost 10 years now.

Good points
Very good condition for age 18+ years old (been garaged all its life)
Engine still pulls nice and has never had any problems
Good clutch
Fairly new battery
4 good tires
Will have full service including timing belt and new MOT prior to sale
Loads of service history receipts
2 sets of original keys and key fob for CAT 1 imobilisor/Alarm

Bad points
No such thing as a perfect car. Especially one that's nearly 20 years old....
Small amount of rust just beginning to show on rear arches
Leans slightly to the left (due to Geometry settings; camber, caster etc) tires don't wear though.
Tappits sometimes sound (most 24 valves do) when starting from cold but stop after a few seconds usually, or if very cold, stop when the engine is warmed up
Unlike most FTO's with an after market front end or wheels, i have the wheel arch liners. However, as they don't afix to the after market front bumper they've had to be cable tied back to stop them rubbing the wheels.
Alloys are 15 years old and have their share of kerbing, plus laquer is peeling a little. There is a scorch mark on front alloy where nuts had to be welded off after I lost the locking socket. On a positive note, it has a complete set of new locking nuts and socket.

Need a couple of months to get my other car on the road and sort out the fresh MOT and service for the FTO so not available immediately. Will add more pics soon and will answer any questions anyone may have if interested. I am based in Wales, UK.

You'd struggle to get near a third of the asking price when you factor in the cost of getting it ashore... Then the raping you have to endure to register it.
Maybe another UK owner might see the ad though, so best of luck with the sale.

Wasn't sure on costs regarding re-registering to ROI. It's pretty expensive then i'm guessing from your post? No worries, maybe another UK user will see it (though i'm guessing if they're on this forum they already have an FTO lol). Anyway, will see how it goes. Not in a rush to sell, but will probably have to stick her on Auto Trader or Piston Heads, and if no luck there ... e-bay

I am a member, however, for full access membership (to be able to post a topic for example) you need to be a paying member. I think it's around £20 now which i'm not prepared to pay to advertise my car on a single forum.

£2900 ono, so i'd say £2.5k is a closer estimate than £3k of the asking price. Anyway, that's what it's worth to me. I know you never make your money back, but i've spent a lot on this car over the years. Front & rear bumper and skirts you're looking at £300 - £500 per piece sprayed and fitted so there's half the asking price. £1k exhaust, £600 - £1000 private plate. Brand new MOT and full service inc. timing belt which isn't exactly cheap. That's before i go into both Cusco strut braces, white dials, clear side repeaters + other extras, all of which sell like gold dust on e-bay.

I know all these things are "extras" and wont be of any interest to people who don't like a car that's modified. But, even if you didn't include the price of buying a standard FTO, it'd cost you more than what i'm asking just to kit it out. In that respect, it's actually a bargain for someone who wants an FTO with the view to doing it up.

Typically, FTOs go for less in the south of Ireland when compared to UK asking prices, I can't speak for the north but I would assume that they are more in line with prices down south. That said, FTO asking prices in mainland UK tend to be under £2k so your valuation would appear to be high when compared to whats for sale right now. However, your FTO is far from stock and it may well command a higher than normal asking price assuming theres a buyer out there whos looking for an FTO such as yours.

Vehicle Registration Tax in the south means that importing a UK car is prohibitive cost wise, this tends to go against UK sellers when trying to sell into this market. VRT aside, the market typically sets the price and you never get back what you put in cost wise - I think we've all come across this at some point when selling on a cherished motor. GLWTS, its a nice FTO. Some interior and engine shots may help you sell it faster.

Well i've always run 2 cars. 1 a run about, to and from work, shopping, chucking the surf boards in etc, and the FTO was my toy for nice days. My other car is a 23yr old Peugeot 205 GT which i've also owned for a number of years. All ready to go again, just need to put a new MOT on it. I [i]AM[/i] moving abroad at the end of this year but i don't want to leave selling the FTO until the 11th hour. And i still need to get about and to work etc, hence keeping the 205 (a lot cheaper to run also). The 205 is the kind of car you can leave standing for 10 years and with a bit of work, get it road worthy again. Plus, i predict like the Mk 2 escort, the 205's are going to be worth good money in about 10 years. Though, i can see how my statement can seem dubious.

I know this site is predominately ROI but there may have been other UK users like myself that use it. So thought it was a good starting place to advertise. Haven't posted new pics as i've received no interest. But here's an engine shot as suggested by CJ.

Nice engine bay though. Honestly, I would love to see the FTO fetching this type of money. It's worth every penny and more
