Postby ftomad » Mon Apr 21, 2008 8:11 pm

Got a driveshaft fitted at the wkend because the old one was f**ked
But today i took it for a drive and its clicking and knocking on the straight and espically on full lock
I wasnt there when the guy fitted it for me
Im guessing its the other cv joint gone on this shaft too
But would this click and clonk on the straight too??
Rang the mechanic but he cant look at it till thursday
Any ideas welcome

It really depends where you took it diving.
Shafts that dive into nasty places are always going to be prone to problems

Sounds like you need to get it up on a ramp FTOmad, a worn CV joint shouldn't make noise unless you're turning a corner. Have a good look at the steering rack and drive shafts....

CV joint would have to be almost falling apart to make noise when driving in a straight line.
On full lock when moving forward slowly a bad joint will click.

Also you have used the old (possibly damaged) inner joint cup. Was this checked for damaged and cleaned well before re-installing it.
