Hi Guys,

Admittedly this is a bit of a long shot - is anybody out there slightly into their surround sound and AC-3/DTSex?

If so - hopefully you can help.. I need a AC-3/DTS/DTSex "decoder" for my new speakers.

I've gotten a set of these -> http://uk.europe.creative.com/products/ ... oduct=9306

and they are freaking amazing - I did some of the initial testing when they were 1st brought to Ireland quite a few years back and I've been in love with them ever since finally took the plunge the other day when I saw SSL in rimlick had them on offer - got the last set too (yay!).
Anyways - while the speakers are FAB and all they offer sweet f.all in terms of digital decoding - however they are active.. this combination means that the run of the mill 7.1 hifi decoder system is out of the question, cause they all have a built in amp.

The only device I can think of is the Creative DDTS-100, but I remember testing it way back then and not being entirely won over by the funcitonality appearance and a few other bits - so if anybody has any suggestions I'm all ears..

I've got one of these:
Hercules Game Theater

I'm not using it at the moment because it will not work in my 64bit system. It does work with VISTA though, and any other O/S. But only in 32bit mode

Look up the specs online and let me know if it will suit your purpose? Then we can haggle. I like to haggle.. :D

that does look pretty neat cj - one thing though - I'd miss out on the 7.1 except when using upmix.

I've placed a bid on a ddts-100 fingers crossed.. For now I'm using a decoder from a set of inspire 5500d I had sitting about - it looks a bit frankenstein ish but it works with the upmix enabled.

I found a couple of other options from a manufacturer called "MoCha" but I can't find much in the way of reviews and such..

Sorry Gfalls only spotted your post now..

Doesn't really suit my purposes as I need a standalone box..

In the end I've "settled" for a Yamaha RX-V650 AV Receiver - as it has 7.1 analogue pre-outs as well as a pretty beefy amplification module. I think it's 135watts per channel or something.. I know it's not THX but my sitting room prolly wont really be up to George Lucas spec anyways..
