Sorry to be te bearer of bad news but those symptoms sound like your tip box could beon its way out. I know some others on here have had similar situations that have been followed by a collapse of the box and requirement for replacement

Check transmission fluid level, has filter been changed recently. Run diag test and see which error code comes up.
Possibly only one of the sensors on top of the box

*********Update***********
well after running it today for a few hours all seems ok she goes from 1st 2nd 3rd and 4th but is a bit hesitent to drop back to 2nd when slowing down she goes from 3rd to 1st but she hits 2nd when i kick down iv topped up all liquids ie: oil, water, powersteering fluid, A/T fluid, but its still not done what i first posted again and there is not one little bit of sound from the gearbox the gears change very smoothly when driving in auto or tip the only noise im gettin is from the brake pads cause they sound like they scrapping but stop as i brake anyway they getting done today could my problem be that its been stood for a few months, its age (95) or something else personally iv had auto gearboxies go on me before and this feels nothing like its on its way out so i dont think its cream crackerd. :?

could be worth disconnecting the battery overnight to force a reset of the ecu..

- guys I'm guessing here that that works for the gearbox ecu right? please correct me if I'm wrong..

I believe the old saying applies as well..

if in doubt - give it a service.. :-)

Get the fluid and filter changed ASAP if that has not already been done.

this happens with my 94GR as well.
i recently got the gearbox serviced and it has made no difference at all.
it first happened about a year ago and only does it the odd time.
i ran a diagnostic when it first occured and came up with an INPUT SPEED SENSOR error.camskil supply them.

for a quick fix, just pull over and turn off the engine and restart, and you will have all your gears.

They're on top of the gearbox and are reasonably handy to replace once you remove the battery and intake piping. If you're after specific details, I would suggest you download the workshop manuals from the main site.
