A Sunday Drive with a difference!!!

Postby RussMan » Wed May 14, 2008 9:38 pm

Hey All,

Never got around to letting you all know about how i was going to run in the new Z.... I'm currently writting this message from the middle of the pyrenees mountains!

Started off last Sunday on a European vacation with a drive to Rosslare, The boat to Chermbourg, A Tidy 600 k drive to Bordeaux on silky smooth roads. After a quick kip we were straight on the road again and onto Toulouse moving to Soldeu, Andorra where we've spent the 2 days relaxing...

What next.... Well up first thing to drive to Barcelona for a 3 Day party and a bit of sun then on up to L'Escala for a week in the villa.

There's more.... Then up to Perpignon, Marseille, Nice, Monaco Grand Prix, Lake Como, Zurich, Stutgart, Brussels, Euro Tunnel, Swindon and home.... phew... Think i got all that out.

Anyway i was never the best at detailing the particulars so its a bit fly by the seat of your pants.

A few things i must note though.. France does not have ANY performance cars... ANYWHERE!!! The looks we got from people the whole way down was as if we were in Ferrari's!!!

Did i mention we are doing the Top Gear greatest roads including the Stilios Pass or whatever u call it.

A video diary ish is being created and my cousin is editiing it for me when i get back so i'll post some highlights.

Heard the weather is great at home, its about 4 degrees where i am now and snow all over the place, spectacular scenary and roads though.

Take it easy all

Thanks Guys...

Down in Barecelona now. The drive down the mountains was more than i ever expected. The scenary blows your mind coupled with the silky smooth roads and blue skies. Picture driving down 7000 feet in 30 minutes bend after U bend after bend... I managed to mount my camcorder in the passenger seat headrest for the trip down the mountain chasing my friend in his Integra Type R followed by my other friend in his M3.... its probably a bit risky to post the video but i might have another look when i get home and do some editing.

Another friend is en route as he couldn't get the full 3 weeks off, he's sporting his newish Impreza STI so no doubt will love every minute of his trip.
The Z has been brilliant the whole trip in everyway bar the pilot who needs larger cahonas and a lesson!
M3 has been causing a few problems which involved be installing a new chip in the ECU which was risky but neccesary. Never want to have to do that again when im in the middle of nowhere!

I'll try upload a few pics and show you what i'm seeing

Laters
Russ

What a great way to spend a few weeks, fair play to you for going for it in the first place. We should do something similar with the FTOs at some point, when you get back, give us the run down on your experience in terms of planning etc.

Would be a class FTO meet. Spend a small fortune on petrol! Like Jeremy Clarkson filling up the GT40 (I think) when he took it on that trip.
