Once more into the breach!

Anyone got any idea how a Cam Shaft Sensor could get broken? Looks to have been in contact with Cam sprocket, timing ok. Has anyone had this happen?

New engine, Mivec wasn't kicking in and engine seemed to hit rev limit at 6-6500 rpm. I saw something about this before but never saw any conclusions about what it was, except something to do with a potential, God forbid, and please not again, Alternator problem.
