Are there cO2 certs available for FTOs?

If not, won't any imports will automatically get the €2k road tax from July?

This "seems" to have changed now Steve. Gormless and the Govt have now realised the affect this will have on VRT revenues and have back-pedalled.

I've been trying to follow the changes, it's not looking good though. Existing Irish FTO's are OK, looks like any new imports are going to be hammered though.

@ David, our government are implementing new draconian taxes in the name of 'saving the planet'. Any imported car that doesn't have an emmissions cert (which only came into being after mitsi stopped selling new FTO's) will be hit by an annual €2k / NZ$4k road tax bill.

Question is, does anyone know if there is an official cO2 rating for an FTO?

Its safe to say that its well into the top tax band. I reckon its around 240 per km.

It's all up in the air. there has been no clarification on this that I've seen, The grant system for hybrids registered post July hasn't been announced either.

Even when the 2k per year for imports was announced, there was nothing detailing exactly which documents would be acceptable to Revenue to prove CO2 emissions.

AFAIK it's the conformity cert that only started to be issued in 2001.

So when are they going to decide if this stupid bloody thing is going to come in or not? Suppose it wont be for another few weeks anyway cause they're scattered all over the world supposedly on a Patricks Day thing. Bloody muppets.
