Help With Recent Problem With My FTO ?

Postby SiRSKiNBAD » Thu Feb 17, 2011 10:22 pm

Hi

Hope somebody could point me in the right direction with the problem that has just seemed to have surfaced with my FTO GPX Auto .

I will try explain best as I can , its only happened a couple of times .

1st time it happened i was just pulling out at a junction , i started to accelerate and the car started to judder/kangaroo lasted about 5-10 secs then pulled away fine ? ( rev , judder , rev , judder then fine ) . This has also happened once or twice again in a similar situation .

However yesterday it happened to me driving along the motorway , was driving along about 40ish ( bloody avrge speed cams ) it was in 4th gear then it just started kangarooing , everytime i tryed to accel it just juddered . so the car started to slow goin down through the gears when it got to about 15 mph (2nd i think) it kinda picked back up and i could accel again ? lasted maybe about 20-30 secs ? also noticed that the oil light flickerd ? checked oil when I got home and it was at level ?
It also stalled on me once ?

It also kinda feels like its not as quick or responsive as it used to be ? related ?

Sorry if its a jibbled mess !

Any info would be great before I take it through to my mechanic !

Thankz

It sounds engine rather than gearbox related to me

See if a diagnostic throws anything up

Are you thinking Plugs, Filters, Fluids ECU reset and a check?

Could be a sensor too? Would faulty position sensor or airflow throw up an ecu light?

Oil light would flicker if engine was gonna stall anyway wouldn't it?

check your sparks and leads as well, i've had a similar issue before with a Colt, after i changed the leads it solved it, i was also getting an engine warning light and it cut out a couple of times

Now it might be something different with yours but worth a check mate along with what the fella's suggested :smt023

Just an update of the car problems , had it in with my mechanic and its really got us stumped . he has check pretty much checked everything that has been mentioned and everything seems fine . filters changed , fluids drained and filled , oil changed , motors/sensors checked/cleaned , electrics checked . sadly he thinks its the gearbox ! never good !

I think the old girls finished , canny keep pumpin money in ! think its time to maybe sell her on ? maybe sum1 has the time to spend tryin to sort out the issues ? maybe ill get sumthin for the leather interior at least ?

hate to say it but its time to get sumthin more sensible ! its been a fun 4 years !
