Thing is, the damn things are too secure! I've driven off more than once without keying in the code and the alarm starts going off as you're driving down the road, at that stage, you're too paniced to stick in the code properly and the car cuts out
If you key in the code incorrectly 3 times or more, the car won't start for 20mins
Last night, I started up the car, popped the bonnet and closed the door, as I was having a root around up front, the bleedin' alarm locks the doors (standard practice after a min or two - anti car jacking feature) with the keys in the ignition and the engine running. It was a good thing I was ouside the house with spare keys inside, otherwise I would have been stranded.
They're great alarms, but theres lots to remember when using them.
