automatic gearbox not selecting gear? anyone?

my friend was driving his automatic Gr along a bumpy road, hit a bump and then the car stopped selecting gear, any gears,
does anyone know what this would be, Gear selector? and if so is it a gearbox job or how major is this.

had the same problem last month. replaced the gear box

That happend to mine before I got it, a recon box was fitted.
