I'm with Bernard on this one, I had hids, nice seats, strut braces, lowered suspension etc on my gpxs.
The diff is the only useful thing, and even from driving a few version r models didn't find it made a huge difference.

That said, a gpvr aero is nice, but I'd miss the climate and mirrors. An upspecced gpx with hids, leather, braces, and diff, a few more bits would be my preference.

There is the whole dilemma of whether modifying a special edition is wrong too... if I had a gpvr I'd have to keep it standard.

I just think that what you lose in a GPX by getting a vR isn't worth what you gain.
And LSD would be nice but things like the strut braces and HIDs (optional extras on other models anyway) can easily be added to a GPX.
If Mitsi had done what a lot of other manufacturers do and made the "R" version more powerful then it'd be a different story.
And yes Muad, I do like the digital display and the folding mirrors

As far as modifying goes then yes with a vR but no on the special edition.

Agreed, wouldn't touch a yellow one but a GPvR I don't see as being rare really. My GPX has HIDs, rear strut, and for the gains of a few extra kgs and an LSD, I don't think I'd like to lose my air con and definately not my folding mirrors! Amazing the amount of times they have come in handy down to people not being able to judge distances on tight spaces.

I'm biased so I'm not saying much, would be absolutely lost without HIDs though and LSD/rear strut brace is damn handy at trackdays.

I do love the Vr colour coordinated seats too.

I've had the GPX and it was modified beyond to the point where it didn't really matter what model mivec I had BUT for me the LSD (and the seats) would swing it in the direction of the GPvR.

Nope. Definately GPX for me. An LSD can be added, as can a nice set of seats. And strut braces.
The folding mirrors, and the air con are comfort things for me.

Yep, there's a misconception that gpvr's don't have aircon, its only climate control they don't have.

How much weight Mitsubishi actually saved by omitting it is another story!

Ah climate control / air con, whatever. I like it, the fact I can tell my car I want the temperature to be 25 all the time and that it adjusts automatically to keep it like that.

Can someone please explain why they go on about the vR being lighter when in fact you check the spec and it's not? I'm assuming it's the LSD.

The facelift also brought the GP Version R. This model was produced in white, red or black only. It featured HID headlamps, blue, black or red front seats, uprated suspension, limited slip differential,and a different rear spoiler in addition to the GPX specification. As this model was to be light weight, items such as side skirts, front fog lights, climate control, electric folding mirrors and sound insulation were left out.

Yes it does.
The vR swaps Climate control for LSD.
Other than that they just left stuff out, the whole point of the vR is that it's lighter.

I wrote most of that page which probably means its all not true

Also I'd take quoted weights on fto sites as being ar$e too, as are most spec lists copied and pasted from one site which got them wrong to start with
