pre-select gears?

Someone told me Tiptronic FTO's had the preselect gears.. I've searched the net for info on this and have found nothing.

Is this true or have i been told wrong?

if it is true, how do you do it?

Don't know what that means, it learns your driving style, but apart from that it's a normal auto box.

pre-select gears are in some of the new tip boxes.

Basically you tell it if you're going UP or DOWN a gear next , and it gets it ready in advance, so when you do change it drops in quicker.. but i dont know if the FTO has this..

I doubt it has this, think you're thinking of the VW DSG box or something.
the response times on the tiptronic are very good though, my last automatic work car was a 05 and it wasn't nearly as good a gearbox as is on the FTO.

Yeah that sonds like the DSG boxes..

The fact that the FTO came with tip - and an intelligent Automatic box that adapts to the way you drive was fairly state-of-the-art at the time of release as far as I'm aware..DSG would have been down right back-to-the-future-esque (IMO)
