Postby kenricd » Tue May 23, 2006 1:07 pm

HI all

recently purchased my first fto, got hooked after test driving Mustangs recent sale! ( thanks mustang) decided to keep the cost to a minimum and bought a 96 GR. It seems pretty neat, has a nice leather interior, you have probably seen it advertised. only circa 70k kms on it but not too sure if thats genuine!! Looking for some expert advise from you guys with regards to doing the car up a bit. ill post some pics shortly, its red but the paint is fading so wondering if anyone has any suggestions or perhaps respray?? Also previous owner has a ridiculously large exhaust on it which is doing my head in, i often start work at 4 in the morning and dont think my neighbours appreciate the wake up call!! Anyone know how i could get hold of the standard dual exhuast to keep the car quite!! also looking for a nice set of 17"'s to throw on as has standard wheels on it at the moment :? also considering new bumper and skirts maybe veilside? plus i bought a universal din thingy in halfords to fit a normal radio and its not as good a fit as i would like!!

now thats all off my chest any help would be appreciated!! :D

p.s. are they 17's on your cj?

Congrats, its stoopid grin time!

the modding once you get started is a slippery slope as I've found out! Spent a lot more than I meant to in the almost 2 years I've had her but she's worth it...

The reds tend to go that way, I've heard a go over with t-cut helps a lot though, probably worth a try.

You mightn't have too much trouble doing an exhaust swap, and there must be loads of standard exhausts around between here and the UK that people have swapped.

Ricerocket and steelroe are good bets for parts, plus keep an eye on ebay, always loads on there too, especially on ebay.co.uk.

No problem and welcome aboard. :smt006

Large exhausts are not to my liking either however there are plenty of people who would be interested. I'm sure you could get someone to take it off your hands. In addition to the two sources mentioned by Kevin you could also try Mitsubishi specialists nothern Ireland or Mitsubishi. While you're at it check the condition of the exhaust middle section. They are prone to failure and if your's has not been replaced previously It's likely to be on it's last legs.

Best of luck with the car.

Re the exhausts, camskills just sold me a replacement middle and back section for a standard exhaust for €299 so my noise problems should be over.

It was a crack in one of the baffles as well as a few holes in the middle section of my exhaust that were making the noise so as mustang said, it could be a dud exhaust.

Enjoy.
