Disconnecting my Exhaust

I'm having trouble taking off the front section of my exhaust. I'm getting a friend to repair a hole.

I have managed to disconnect the frontpipes from the manifold and disconnect from the cat back.

I have also disconnected what I think is the lambda sensor, which goes into the flexipart of my exhaust just before the cat.

There is what appears to be another sensor going into the rear of the cat but I cannot disconnect it! What is this sensor and how can I get it off?

That would be your cat temp sensor,loadsa wd40 on anythin to do with the exhaust should free it up

There is a bolt but it wont budge at the minute. Is there any way of disconnecting it inside the car?

follow the cable and there should be a rubber gasket .. take that of and pull the cable at this stage you should be able to find a switch . disconnect that

or this was for the lambda ?

alternatively you can disconnect lead under the drivers seat, but going in from below is easer as far as I remember, just remember not to pull too hard at those wires.

Not quite sure which way it is in the fto yet as I haven't touched it yet(even though i'm looking at my decat pipe as we speak still in the box of course) ,I know on hondas the connector is up in the floor and is a bugger to get at

That worked perfectly. Im glad I didnt have to take out the seat!

Now to fix the hole

sure the seat is only four bolts..easier than you'd think..

good luck with the fixing..if the exhaust isn't really repair able consider a stainless replacement..like mongoose or blue flame.. well worth the dosh.

I couldnt get mine off at all.. had to cut the wire and wire it back up then...

I actually ended up taking the entire interior out anyway! I was replacing a handbrake cable and reconnecting the lambda sensor.

I decided the best way to learn where everything is would be to take out everything and put it back together!

My CO2 for the last two fails on high idle has been 0.78 and 0.67!

You're dead right - it's the best way to learn how it all goes together - bar removing the dash it's not really too much hassle either.

Remember then you go to your next nct drive there 1 gear lower than you normally would to make sure all impurities are out of the system.

If you haven't already make sure that she's well serviced as well - and if you want to put the odds a bit more on your side you could consider adding a little bit of that redex stuff to your oil (as far as I remember it goes in the oil anyways I could be wrong, read the bottle!)..or you could mix some e85 in with your petrol..be careful though, don't put in too much or the whole thing will go bang!

If you're having trouble with the CO2, my suggestion is a good dash of "Dipetane" fuel additive (a couple places in limerick do it) and a litre of E85 petrol to 9l of normal or E5 petrol. Took my CO2 from 0.37 to 0.02.
Oh, and some "spirited" driving.

As stated earlier, holes in the exhaust will not cause your emissions to rise, if anything leakage from the exhaust will reduce emissions at the tail pipe.

Most likely the CAT or O2 sensor.

If there was holes in your exhaust your lamda would be through the roof,i'm with topcat,a bit of 'spirited' driving before your nct to heat the **** out of your cat,worked for me

I used the dipethane treatment last time and it reduced the emissions a little although I didnt drive the a*** off it before hand and I only added it an hour before the NCT.

I'll try some of the E85 petrol as well as it seems it made some difference, Thanks Topcat.
