More messing from S&B / Byrne Autos?

Postby CJ » Sat Apr 22, 2006 8:53 pm

S&B Motors are advertising a '98 GPvR with 83k kms for €11950:

I reckon Byrne Autos are selling the same car albeit a 'MIVECK TYPE R' and quoting 64k kms and €12500, either that or they're both using library pics or something, note the sticker on the rear bumper to the left of the reg plate recess:

yeh CJ, i noticed that too, CARTEL.......... is the word ive been using, now they dont even care about the "so called" mileage they put up, obviously there are still silly people buying these cars, oh well :?

but as i have said before on a few occasions BEWARE OF ANY WHITE 1998 GPVRs being sold by any of our beloved dealers  , i had one of their chassis numbers, but fu*k knows where ive left it.

just walk away is all i can say, unless you want an extremely hi mileage clocked car,

Interesting stuff there CJ, but no big surprise. What gets me is how blatant it all is :smt018 It would be interesting to go and see waht the odometer is actually reading on the car(s).

I'd email carzone about this - they have strict rules about the photos that accompany adds - unless it's specifically stated then the photo must be of the actual car for sale.

I emailed about 2 TT adds that clearly showed a photo of the same TT - one of the adds was subsequently removed.

Aye that doesn't suprise me - they don't sound like a nice bunch to deal with and I certainly wouldn't like to be trying to deal with them for any aftersales!!

 Ah, that explains why S&B are consistently lower in price than the rest of them. I naively thought it was because they we just more reasonable and were not operating on the same huge margins. I was wondering how in a cartel arrangement one seller could consistantly sell below all the others without being bullied out of the market.
Mystery solved.

Nah - Having been to both dealers myself I was under the impression that S & B motors get the cars in first (they are in the port) and there seems to be several dealers that can then sell this car at various prices - I have seen differences of up to 3.5K on the same car because of this.

S & B do seem to be consistently much cheaper though.

I seem to recall someone saying that Byrne autos had relocated to the docks. No :?:

Maybe they have - but AFAIK they are still in Raheeny - though Sean Byrne allways talks about some other elusive site where he keeps cars - this may be S&B motors.- - which is run by two brothers - Simon and Beau - thet actually come across as fairly sound - though we are talking about used car dealers here
