Wow - Massive money for a GPX Tip - never mind the fact its a classic shape - prob 97 year model.

Also note the difference between the mileage figures on the 2 ads - clocking of these cars by these particular dealers is rife - particularly Sean Byrnes -
I've seen this consistently with FTO's advertised in auction in Japan with 60K-80K miles being advertised in Ireland a couple of months later with 30K-40K miles - scandalous.

mmm, you'd think that a dealer who brings them in would know by now that it's a 'Tip Tronic' instead of 'Trip Tronic' box!

Hehe, I work at Auto Trader and this exact ad came across my desk today. I corrected the "trip tronic" but unfortunately it only applies to the magazine.;)

So wildhound, you should get a commission if he moves it! What else do you change on ads?!

Hehe, I'm not in sales I'm in quality control so I don't get any sort of commission. It pays decently enough though.

It actually works the other way around, if it went into the magazine incorrectly we'd probably have to give him credit.

you must see some cool stuff come through your screen

Some really cool things yeah, but it's mostly offset by the massive amount of commercial and farm vehicles and machinery. Boring! ;)

So hang on - would you be the person to review listings with "keyword spamming" in them.. like the BMW that had FTO in the title..

Not if you're referring to the website, only the magazine.

If there was a BMW with FTO in the title in the magazine, then yes that would be my problem.

But I think what you're talking about is when someone buys an ad (on Carzone for example), sells their FTO and then changes the ad to a BMW. Right?

Yeah on the websites it's easy to do because they usually give you an unlimited run on your ad. You're meant to mark it as sold when it sells, but some people just edit the ad to sell a different car.

However, you can't edit the make and model, so you end up with an FTO (or whatever) with the pictures and description of some other car. Seems pointless to me, since nobody who searches for an FTO is likely to buy a BMW.

Unfortunately I don't think anyone actually screens the ads on Carzone. Or if they do they definitely don't screen the edits.
