The bulb is on its way out, its often easier and cheaper to purchase a new set, recent post in a similar vein => viewtopic.php?f=4&t=5494&p=87797&hilit=hids#p87797

Not sure - probably about €10-15 but I didn't research extensively. I decided to buy the full kit for €40 mainly because I am running HIDs in 2 cars and I will surely need spares at some stage.

Let us know what you purchase.

this is how a bulb looks like (hid)
make sure you get the same model as you have on the car

and be careful not to buy a normal bulb with white light (like the one you linked)

hi mate just been reading the post and thought i might add something i had the same fault with a set of my HID's but it wasn't the bulb it was the balast so before you go part with cash i would first swich the bulbs over left with right if the flickering switches side then it the bulb it it don't it's your balast.

are your HIDs factory or aftermarket?

Install the suspect bulb in the other side of the car, if the problem is still there then you can rule the ballast out.

I have this problem too. One of my HIDs is flickering and it's not the bulb. What is the balast? Can I buy just this part or do I need a new conversion kit?

You can get ballasts on eBay handy enough...

For the life of me, I can't remember if I fitted them, if I did, I'm pretty sure that they're 35w.

Surely you don't need to take off the bumper to check the bulb ??? To take out and check the ballast - yes, but to swap bulbs and retest - no. Do the simple bulb test first and then you can confirm whether or not it's a ballast problem.

Take a look at the pictures in this thread, the light units have to come out to get at the bulb.
They're a different unit altogether.

I just installed my 8K HID kit a few weeks ago and on the instruction it says:

" If both the right and left lamps do not light simultaneously, OR FLICKER, it may be caused by a low electric current"

Solution: Use a higher powered battery of at least 70 amps.

Are your batteries running a little low!!!
