Postby plug1971 » Mon Oct 26, 2009 5:16 pm

Hi Guys,
i did a search on coolant but couldnt seem to find what type/make of coolant i should use in my Mivec.
Can anyone advise me on which coolant to buy?

Use ethylene glycol based coolant (usually blue).

I know theres different colour coolants out there but it seems the the pink and blue coloured stuff is the most readily available.

I have tended to use the "OAT" type pink coloured coolant in my cars as I understood that its longer lasting (5yrs) than the blue stuff though apparently the blue stuff is the better option if you do tend to change your coolant every year or two (blue has better silicate protection than pink in the short term - but goes off faster).

Either way both are fine for the FTO IMO though I wouldn't recommend mixing them as you'll loose the better properties of both coolants.

i have to cross this bridge also
since these days my temp went bazoom and noticed that a lot of coolant is missing
and the water added after a while was brown.. so i have messed up the coolant ratio

i have a green coolant in car now.
and in all fuel stations i checked ... found only green...
Should i go to my mechanic and ask for blue ?

most coolants are the same no matter what colour , but i know audi/vw coolant which is g12 is different and pink in colour , just make sure never to mix this with normal coolant vw code g11 . it will turn to jelly.
