Hi Guys,

Long time no talkie.

Still driving my mazda, havent got a new fto as yet.

However...my mind is sort of thinking about a GTO.
Has anyone had any experiences with em?

Personally, I don't know a whole lot about GTOs apart from the fact that the n/a version is considered slow for a 3L (220bhp), I'm lead to believe that a GPX would easily take one. Parts tend to be a bit more expensive than an FTO. IN the mean time, check out this buying guide on the UK GTO Owners site.

I believe they can be expensive if they go wrong. And as CJ says the n/a car is slower than the FTO -> not to mention the dreaded car tax and insurance...

...FYI I might be selling mine in 2 months or so - that's after I've added a few bits n' bobs :-)

Naw, still haven't a clue - the problem is that the FTO is so good in so many areas that anything I'd REALLY like to replace it with would cost 30,000+ and I have a real big hangup about having 30K yoyo tied up in a car. Sure I even think 25K for a TT is too expensive.

Atm the cars I'm interested in are Alfa GTV, TT, another FTO (manual GPX this time).

But what I'd really like to do is get a 98/99 manual GPX and spend a few quid on it ...... but reason prevents me even considering this :(

Not so sure about the TT http://www.myaudittsucks.com/ I dont remember ever seeing a bad word about an FTO on the internet let alone a whole site dedicated to it especially for a relatively new car

Buy another FTO you know it makes sense!

Thats a fair point, but bear in mind that these TT problems occured on relatively new cars, most FTO Tip boxes that go pop do so on 9 or 10 year old motor, in this case its difficult to compare like with like.

Theres plenty of bad things being said about the FTO over the years in terms of mechanical issues, thankfully most of them are not serious (apart from the 4sp Tip boxes going pop that is).
