Mines up to 117,000km and no noise or anything off it yet, I know its not close to the 100,000 miles but still I'm pretty impressed with it so far!

My new engine's from a '97 and it's SO much quieter than the original one and noticeably more powerful. No idea how many miles are on it though.

Came out of an auto too which probably explains why it's in such good nick.

Are replacement engines easy to come by?

I got VERY lucky and found one in a breakers yard about two hundred yards from my house (Thanks again Sebastian!). They didn't know what it was worth so I got it for buttons.

But ordinarily, no, you'd be looking at over a grand and some fairly expensive shipping!

there are a couple of other suppliers around - but hopefully you wont ever be in a situation where you need to replace the whole engine..

190km/h would be my guess, thats near 120mph, your about 10-15mph off the quoted mark so its not that bad!

Hi Emma welcome to the club.
If you're having trouble on the track and cant get past the speed limiter you should consider investing in a delimiter chip or one of the other devices that remove the speed restriction.

Remember speeding isn't clever or cool.

You're hitting the Jap speed limiter - why do you need to go quicker than that?

Hi there Emma and welcome aboard. As indicated you are hitting the speed limiter. Probably fast enough for most peoples needs, However if you find yourself moonlighting as a super hero (cat woman, supergirl etc). and find you need more speed, then there are de restrictors available which will remove this limit. However as far as I recall, most of these also recallibrate the speed to mph, which would be a bit of a disadvantage.

However as you are old enough to drive, you are an adult and old enough to make your own decisions and live with the consequences, lets not run for the moral high ground please. I've said it before and I'll say it again, let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

My car came in from the UK with a delimiter but I'm very tempted to remove it since I'll never be going that speed and it seems to be screwing with the speedo.

For example, it read 40mph yesterday on the M50, but the speed sensor signpost dealie told me I was doing 77kph...

If I we you I'd get hold of a sat nav unit and compare it's reading with the speedo, before removing anything!

You should know me better than that Mustang - I'm hardly "driving Miss Daisy" myself - not trying to preach to Emma (personally dislike the modified forums that do) - just genuinely interested as to why anyone feels the need to go quicker than 190km/h on an Irish standard public road?

Well that's just it, I thought there was an element of the pot calling the kettle black . To address your question I guess it's natural curiousity, youthful exuberance, call it what you will. Splash out on a performance car, and you want to see what it can do.

yeah all new nokia N series phones (N82 / N95 etc) have an option in the TOOLS menu called GPS Naviagation. It updates your speed based on position readings taken many times a second. It's as accurate as you can get. Drive at a steady 100kph or 120kph on the motorwayand have a friend see what the phone says over a minute. It will give you an idea. I have tested 3 cars with it now and they were all about 5% quicker on the cars speedo than in reality.
