The top two are more for standard parts, Camskill being the main one.
Bottom ones are good for everything else.

Camskill
Ricerocket

That all depends on what's already done, your budget and what you're aiming for.

The FTO isn't the most tunable of cars but that's not to say you can't make gains.
A free flowing exhaust, brake upgrade and HIDs would be a good start.

nothing done to it. its a standerd GR.
i can afford pritty much anything so putting that aside.
im just aiming for a fast car that sound good.
i no that the standerd FTO has that already but of course i want to mod it up a bit.

Lots of different exhausts out there, any place will fit one, I bought one before and got a place called Automania in Cork to fit it for around 50 quid.

Loads of vids on youtube about FTOs with different exhausts, mines a RalliArt, the first one in the vid here;

Last one is stock in the vid but its not stock anymore, thats Bernard's one.
Next meet hasn't been arranged yet, keep an eye on the meets section, it'll be discussed there when something comes up, hopefully soon enough and with a good turnout.
Tom you still thinking of having something in Mayo by any chance?

It's not stock, but fairly similar.
It's a SS longlife exhaust, I have mongoose downpipes too but I can't remember if they were fitted when that video was taken.

Hey stonchy, welcome to the club.

If you want to do stuff on the cheap I can do some of the work for you. I do everything myself on my FTO and my Mini so I'm used to a bit of hard work. Exhausts are a VERY easy job to do. I'll do most jobs on cars for people for a crate of beer or something similar. You can help out too and get a bit of confidence and do some work yourself.

Invest in some tools if you plan on doing work yourself...good ones.
Currently in my collection:
'98 Toyota Starlet...
'79 Mini Clubman 1380cc ~100BHP (I hope)
'79 BMW 728
Dilogoat86
I prefer my FTO to the missus

performance wise only puting up a vr4 engine in it will make you smile , other than that the spending is too much for the power gains you get if you upgrade some of the performance bits

styling wise there are loads of kits available it all resumes to personal taste .

Best thing to do with a standard fto (without spending a fortune on it ) is to service the hell out of the engine , change the bushes and drop links put a set of lowering springs and upgrade to HID's , 17 ' alloys and a aftermarket spoiler and bumper if available handy . if you want to go mad then a set of leatherette seats and some EL DIals will deffo make you a happy chappy . the list can continue .....air induction kits , mx5 clear side repeaters , kick plates ...

in the end is it worth doing anything to it.
would it be best just to leave it standerd?
engine conversion seems like a hell of work and money like.
ye style wise it would make sence to do that up a bit but lookin at performance parts theres no big gains out of the add ons.

if you wanted performance you should have bought an evo :)

170 bhp still does it i think ..no?
Concentrate in keeping the car road worthy and enjoy driving her
Put a personal touch to it if you feel like it by adding a few extras if you have money to spend

Honestly I go for style and looks of the car and its components, as opposed to power, unless its the VR-4 transplant which is a large increase, I would still install performance parts, not for gains but for the fact they are a good quality part and better for the car in the long run.
Take my engine for example, its got an Apexi filter and an earthing kit, I don't believe the filter does anything for the power, but I like the looks of it, so it stays, the earthing kit is supposed to give a more even distribution of electrical supply across the car so should be better for the car, but its also kind of nice, something unusual I think as I havent really seen many before. Any other mods on my car are all cosmetic, (though the Recaros are a comfort thing too). So unless I get a VR-4 transplant, I'm not going to worry about such an item giving me more power or taking it away, if I like it it goes in, if not it doesnt.

ye a shiny induction kit in the engine bay would be nice and by the sounds of it thats as far as i will go with it.
exterior wise ye i might get a body kit new set of wheels and crap like that.
