My FTO has the standard dial heater, air conditioner. Can the one with the display be fitted easily enough if I can find one ??

Presume you are driving a GS or GPvR then?
Really not worth the effort - the only real difference is that one has A/C and the other has Climate Control but in this countrys climate its 6 of one/half dozen of the other. If I had my way I'd have the Air Con taken out of my car - its a heavy biatch.
If its just for the display then I really wouldn't bother - its a bit naff looking TBH.
