Which Battery?????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Postby Lisa FTO » Tue Jan 03, 2006 2:09 pm

Guys, any advice on what battery I need for a GR model? Apparently (when the car started reving for no reason, followed by alarm going off for no reason, and horn) when assistance arrived they said that the battery was far too small for an FTO, the one installed only suitable for a micra......Is there an issue with the terminals being too small or something for a bigger battery due to the whole Jap import thing?

Thanks

Lisa.

HB054 in Halfords does the trick, no messing about with terminals etc, fits straight in, 5 min job. They will take the old battery off you as well.
Bear in mind the Halfords battery is a copy of the battery from Imported Micra models, not exactly great output, but does me just fine.
If you want a bigger output you need to change the terminals and poles, I didnt want to bother but they guys here could help if needed I'm sure.

Hope this helps

Micra's battery thesame with FTO's or you can also fit a 72A battery in the tray, with the terminals the correct way around, on the basis you have a universal battery clamp as its quite wide, part number being an 096 ask ricerocket.

Ooops, I just read the subject title and not the detail!
Same thing happened to me, alarm and horn and all.
Batt was completely dead and wouldnt recharge.

I've had the Micra battery three months now and not a single problem, including leaving the lights on by mistake (my girlfriend not me !) for a few hours, and the car was idle with the alarm on for two weeks, but still started without hesitation.

But if I was mechanically minded and not lazy, I probably would have invested in a larger output and changed the terminals etc.
