you'd need to go into a little bit more detail than that mate?

When do yo hear the noise? when idling? when changing gears? when driving? all of the time? what does it sound like, just a hum? loud?

its all the time ... not really loud but humming sound gets speed up when higher rpm.to describe the sound is just like those high frequency noise from your speakers when u didn't install the ice properly. it can't be heard in cabin but when u are near the gearbox area next to engine it sounds..... the trans of tip or gearbox is all perfectly normal, no lapse, smooth..... pls help

First things first - change the ATF and filter and see if that makes a difference.

Dextron III rated oil should do the job.

Doesn't sound good. Suggest you get a decent mechanic to take her for a drive...

Are you sure its not a wheel bearing?

yes it sounds like a screwed bearing...i'm pretty sure its not from the wheel bearing.... the sound is there all the time... even the car is stationary. As long as i start the car it sounds from the a/t gear box.....

Did you have any trouble locating a replacement box? Out of interest, are FTOs a common sight in HK?

hi CJ, fto are not very common here. but plenty of parts from the scrapyards. it cost me ard 4000HKD to get it replace including labour & spares ( atf, filter) so its pretty reasonable price we are looking at. hows the pricing like in uk ?

Wow, thats cheap, about 350 euro inc. fitting. You would expect to pay about double that figure in Ireland.
