Not a patch to look at in comparison to your blue FTO IMO!

Only positives I can think of over an FTO is that they are RWD and have a turbo. Would have to be S15 spec R though - the older models are horrible looking. But then you are getting into 350Z and Evo 8 money both of which I'd have a personal preference for.

agreed, but they are fairly rare and the spec R has serious potential, i was actually looking at these two...

350Z is the ideal choice admittedly but any 02-03's are usually overpriced or if they are priced fairly they are snapped up straight away!!

Evo's are quality indeed but i'm looking for something that there aren't many of!!

i still need to shift the blue one first though.........

The Spec R's are cracking looking cars (IMO) that develop nice power and are easily tunable for big power if thats your thing.

UK but you're talking £16k pre VRT (10k euro last time I checked), early 90's model.

Dave wrote:I think i'd be a bit weary of an RX-7 if the truth be told!! plus it'd be my daily driver!!

They're not suited to daily short hops but if there are stretches where you can open it up then you're fine - needs to be redlined regularly. If you drive it off boost over reasonable distance, you'll get better fuel economy than a 2L Mondeo, problem is thats not so easy ;)

Agreed - you have plenty of choice for the money.

I'm going to offer my usual one size fits all solution
For that money I'd get a 2005 RX8 240bhp version from UK or Japan. (most of the Irish market prices are crazy)
For early thirties you could have a '03 Zed.
FWIW I also think that the NSX is way over priced.

RX-8!! nope, sorry, i just never ever liked em...

Skyline - R34 is out of my budget, don't like the R33 (looks a little dates now)

Supra TT - sweet machine but i think it's beginning to show it's age now too, there hasn't been a cosmetic change of notice in the car since 91

GTO - Not a major fan of these either...

Sylvia - i do think they look sweet but agreed maybe a little overpriced!!

NSX - Way overpriced...

RX-7 - i'd still be weary of the "wankel" and the running costs etc, i'd do a decent amount of mileage now, probably the guts of 300 miles a week!!

S2000 - hmmm, maybe, depending if the right one came along for the right money...

350Z - ideally yes, but not many 03's for the right money floating about at the moment

Evo - i think they are a little bland looks wise, i'm still too into the coupe look to seriously consider an Evo..

Scooby - nope! everyone and his brother seems to have one!!

So what's left??

No Jap coupes of note really left unless you go pre '00 reg.

Just euro boxes after that.
I'm not really convinced by Alfa GT, 3 series coupe or TT as performance cars so that just leaves hot hatches like Mk 5 golf GTI - Astra OPC - Alfa 147GTA - Focus RS and new ST - Audi S3 - New Civic Type R - Clio 197.

Maybe something a little more leftfield would suit you sir? -

Lotus Elise.
Opel speedster.
Some sort of TVR...

Personally I'd rather a Zed than a silvia or skyline...

We can swop around at the meet if you like. The Zed is a hugely resolved car - excellent performance and handling - comfortable and good looking to boot. And there are masses of mods available for them - especially as its so popular in US and UK though I have just seen one other on the Irish road since I bought mine - the engine size must be scaring people off?

Your Blue FTO won't be hard to shift.
Like my own FTO its not about price - its about the right petrol head coming along at the right time. A car like yours could scare normal car buyers but would be appreciated by someone who knows what they are looking at.

The 2nd hand market is pretty slow right now - especially if you're selling something specialised (like your FTO). MfFTO is right, once the right person comes along the car will shift pretty quick...

Personally, if i had ur budget, id probably go for an EVO. Serious performance but scary running costs. U guys seem to be big into ur Zeds, personally id prefer a s2000 lookwise, although seen a beauty of a Zed not long ago. Guy from pro parts in fairview owns it. White 03 import. Any1 see it???
