Newbie with only 5 cylinders :(

Postby racebits » Thu Jan 13, 2011 12:39 am

Hi I'm a newbie love my FTO syling and handling but the engine is not right.

Had the FTO 95 mivec for about a month only seems to be firing on 5 cylinders, done a full service, plugs leads. Found a coil pack was messed up, and had to replace an injector. How do you code an injector for it, have been told that the ECU learns itself automatically?

Still running on 5 clyinders.

Really down on power HELP

PLEASE

Cheers, no overheating at all, water fine.

Exhaust light comes on very easy ie not under much load? thinking it could be blocked CAT, would this cause the same symptoms?

Got de-cat to go on monday (fingers crossed)

Possibly, but with a rich misfire you would be pumping raw fuel into the exhaust which would bring the cat temp up rapidly, did you change the plug leads?

If the de-cat doesnt do the job it'll be a matter of checking the connections and wiring for the coilpack for the misfiring cylinder,i'd recommend letting a mechanic loose at it for this...because if he cant find anything wrong with the wiring/connections he should have equipment to check and make sure the coilpack is getting its signal from the ecu.

Yeah dude this site is great for everything FTO :D
