How important is?????????

How important is the Lock Pins (Guide Pins ) on the Front Discs(the ones that go in the Calipers)??? i Changing Front Discs and Pads but left them out cause ithey were rubbing off the discs???? is it ok to leave them out??
if you still had control, you haven't been fast enough 8)

Not entirely sure what you mean! I'm presuming you mean the anti rattle springs that sit between the body of the caliper and the pad. These prevent the pad from moving around in the caliper, running without these will result in a loud knocking sound when you apply brakes! :wink:

just keep an eye on the bolt the last thing you want to to pop the drive out going around a round about

I suppose if they were designed to be there, then they must be there for a good reason. Personally I wouldn't mess about with anything, especially brakes..IMHO.. :roll:

If its the clip I'm thinking about then I've seen these left out on quite a few cars - generally the hub bolts/wheel hold them in place in any case - not ideal to be without these IMO but chances are you'll be fine.

You're not on about the 2 bolts on the caliper, that if you take one off you swing the caliper up and get at the pads? :?

Doubt it Dan there is no need to remove the split pin on the drive shaft when changing the Disks or Pads.

Pic of the part would be the best and safest way to answer.
Sounds like you are either talking about the screw that holds in the Disk or the anti rattle springs as stated above.

I reckon hes on about the front version of these that go on top and bottom of the pads between the caliper

my guess too. If so get them back on there or brakes will rattles badly

if i get new anti rattle springs would that stop them from rubbing off the discs??. ive no rattlein so far but i hav bein takein it easy.
