It's just part of man's never-ending quest to stay young at heart to keep the boyish charm, have good cholesterol levels and never ever be expected to be the sensible one in a group.

Here's a few websites for info:

For me - driving through a tunnel in the mivec zone in a low gear with the window down is quite enjoyable - its what also attracts so many peple to motorsport - the sound of the cars - you only have to hear it once and you'll be hooked as well.

I've said it before - ITG/HKS + Decat performance exhaust + Mivec zone = - put all that in a tunnel and it will blow the cobwebs out. Its not even just the sound - its the reasonance as well esp that particular tunnel thats quite dark and narrow and cut out of solid rock.

BTW - Its not even illegal (unless there are noise regs I don't know about) - you don't even need to get out of 1st gear though I like to do it in 2nd.

Some car sounds are like sweet music.... the FTO (V6) is one of them. Like a baby brother version (in terms of sound) to the Ferrari F355 or 360.... very, very sweet.

For me it has to be ITG induction kit wrapped in a stainless heat shield + 5" tailpipe + GR running at 7,000 revs, although knowing that tunnel, Dave's twin exhaust will sound very decent indeed.

thanks for the vote of confidence, but in fairness the V6 is a far sweeter sound.

still no doubt the psssstttt of my turbo will hopefully be as pleasing!!!!!

Are you thinking an athmospheric dump valve (i.e. blow off valve) for that big "psssst"?

Aww mate, don't do it - the sound of the turbo spooling, wastegate and non-athmospheric dv will sound sweet enough...... too many glanza's running those big bov's, kinda cheap sounding IMHO....

shane runs to hide now

Well we know who he's gonna side with - seeing as he sounded more than a little psssttt as well.

The front mounted intercooler behind the grill will do enough talking to anyone in the know! - and thats all that needs to know.
Its a pity that the Dump valve's are so common now - I quite liked the sound of them before every Turbo Glanza in the country got one.

Hmm! I think you'll have to have a word with Dave.
His is a 1.8 (turbo coming soon) and its def louder than any of our 2.0V6's - must be something to do with those twin cans hanging off the back.

As standard even the 2.0V6's don't make much noise. You really need a performance exhaust and induction and maybe even a decat for a noticeable increase - however its not about how loud it sounds - you can make any car sound loud - its about the howl or wail from the car. The mivec V6 is particularly distintive.

Helen, I had a Mongoose on my GS and it sounded great, much more raspy than the same exhaust fitted to a V6. Daves custom twin exhuast is a howler alright, but its the good side of louf fortunately ;)

CJ

P.S. Topic split for obvious reasons, lets try and keep the meets topic OT as they tend to end up a bit top heavy as it is.

yea I kinda like them too but that was when you only came across them in the odd rare sighting of an escort cosworth... now every muppet seems to have one and some of those muppets don't even have a turbo -they just have these stupid "pretend" bov's that make the sound but do nothing...... I even heard one on a micra one day .......
