I don't think so Seb. I'd prefer a motoring related activity, such as karting, road trip, etc. I think karting and paintball in one day might be a bit much.
A road trip along some scenic landscape would be nice, Wicklow Mountains, ring of kerry, etc, etc.
A rolling road meet might be another option but, would be tricky if we actually got the kind of numbers we are hoping for.
Anyone got any suggestions?

I think that might be the way forward Mustang i.e. Karting + a road trip. Options are - do Tynah and somewhere around the west coast or do Dublin and do the Wicklow thing. I appreciate that both options are not central but I'm unsure if the midlands is the right place considering our options (I'm open to correction Mustang

)
If we can some form of feedback and concensus this week, we can get moving on the organisation.

Karting and a road trip sound great.
Personally I don't mind where we head for, somewhere scenic would be nice.
If we get the kind of numbers we're hoping it'll make for some great photos...something for the site's new look perhaps...

Here's a suggestion.
Meet at
Klyemore karting (Naas Rd. Dublin) mid morning early afternoon.
Tyre kicking.
Karting session €50 per head for GP.
Listen to excuses from runners up about, slow karts, bad petrol, poor brakes, unfair marshalls, and other stories that might be true.
Followed by a road trip around the corner to
McDonalds drive thru (keeping with the motoring theme).
After lunch and light refreshments, head up the
wicklowmountains and take in some of the scenery. Overnight (optional) in some small quaint village, Roundwood perhaps. Anyone know the area?

I suppose it's only fair that we give the Dublin lads a shorter drive every now and then

- So true! It wouldn't be racing without them.
I might have to make up an FTO bodykit for my kart this year to help slow it down enough to give the rest of ye a chance - or maybe a leather interior, upgraded ICE and some dynamat on the kart will do the trick
just remember folks - its the taking part that counts!

OK guys, theres seems to be enough interest to go with the Dublin karting idea followed by a Wicklow / East coast rally and an overnigher is Wickla somewhere. Can you please add you name to the list and indicate K(karting only), KR (karting and road trip) or KRO (karting road trip and overnight. I'd like to get moving on booking the karting session soon so please get your names down ASAP.

Reminder: Date is Saturday February 23rd.
If anyone is fairly familiar with the Wicklow, make yourself known with a view to putting together a road plan. While I know a few people have GPS systems, a human sense of direction woulf be useful!
EDIT: feel free to bring your other halves along, please indicate with a +1 on your name entry. If hey ant to get involved in karting, please signify.

BTW, I do not know my way around Wicklow, but I do know there are some great roads, and even better scenery. Would need someone to lead the pack though.

UPDATE, I've just gotten off the phone from Kylemore karting, I've made a provisional booking for a grand prix (€50 per head) at 11.30am on the morning of saturday 23rd feb. We need a minimum of 9 people for the GP. Note the following slot at 1pm is already booked. The next available slot would be 2pm, but by the time that would be finished, daylight would be fading fast -not ideal for the road trip.
Am I correct in assuming that all the +1's will be taking part in the karting (mine will be), if not please make this clear. Remember it's an indoor track so no weather worries and no chance of getting wet, unless you get showered in champagne after the race

Has anyone ever driven there? If so what are the karts like?

It's started already

I've driven there before but it was years ago. Perhaps some of the Dubs can let us know?

Well if MfFTO doesn't come first this time, he's gonna need to blame something!
Fair play for booking Mustang - I was assuming that the +1 was a partner who would not necessarily be competing but as you say - clarify guys.
