Rusting Roof

Postby karlwebb02 » Sun Aug 17, 2008 6:27 pm

Helllllllllllllllooooooo

Can you advise me My Fto roof is rusting and I am trying to work out a way of getting it fixed.

I asked a Body repair shop and they told me that the rust would come back if I just have it rubbed down and filled.

I was told about having the roof outer layer cut off and replaced by a doner roof that is rust free... Can this be done and will it hurt my wallet

Karl

Please HELP!!!!!!

No way man, it'd be much easier to cit out the damaged section and weld in bits as opposed to replacing the entire roof.

remember the roof is part of the structure of the car.

If it's just around the sunroof there's a guide here.

Dont listen the anyone telling you to replace the roof skin. All rust needs to be removed and then rust inhibitor applied primed and repainted. Any body shop worth its salt can do this.

HAs the rust gone all the way through i.e is the holes.

The curse of the Black FTO .. I had rust in my previous black FTO as well . (it appears as black bubbles in a line ) Its quite difficult to get rid of.
When mine was done it came back 6 months later .
