to HID or not to HID

Hi,

I understand that some models come with (expensive) HID lights: http://www.camskill.co.uk/products.php?plid=m3b0s110p1333

Not mine. And the headlights' beams are not great.

I did some googling and it seems you can get some new headlight sets at just 799$+155$ shipping [ouch]:

Now I'd love to use a [way cheaper] HID conversion kit, but this site here worries me... http://www.danielsternlighting.com/tech/bulbs/Hid/conversions/conversions.html

So I don't know what to go for.
Another option is just to get more efficient (non-HID) bulbs than the factory ones. The brighter they are, the less they last, though.

Have a read of this, I don't have them yet myself but it's the way to go by all accounts.

I have them installed in both of my cars and they are a vast improvement and very easy to install

...oh and they're now very cheap too for good quality kit.

I have also passed NCT with both cars with no adjustment whatsoever from original bulbs.

The FTO used projector type headlights, these don't present the glare problems that normal headlights do when fitted with HID's.
