Strut Braces

I fitted my front strut brace at the weekend (might do the rear tonight if I have time) and I was amazed at the improvement in the handling. I don't remember the handling on my GS being improved that much when I fitted strut braces so I've come to the conclusion that the offset castor front bushes when combined with a strut brace make a really big (NICE) improvement to the handling. The car feels very direct and responsive with loads of grip.

I just gotta get the remaining front lower arm poly bushes and steering rack gaiters fitted - Paul said he'll also have a look at the tracking at same time. Then it's off to Dave McCann for negative camber bolts filtting and wheel alignment - hopefully I'll have go-kart like handling

I can only imagine how good it would be with bigger wheels and more rubber on the ground....

oh yea.... forgot about the shorter drop links to tighten up the rear anti-roll bar....

I had all that done to the black one and that is running on 18's and since i can compare to the red one it can say the black one is superiour in every way when it comes to handeling and grip, but it was basically the lowering and the strutt braces that make it that way not the larger wheels

Got the car sorted by Paul yesterday - fitted the remaining front lower arm poly bushes, the shorter rear droplinks and adjusted tracking on left front (while changing steering rack gaiter)

I was very pleasantly suprised with the results. The ride is slighly harder than before but in good way - it feels much more solid and less fragile over bumps and rough surfaces. And the handling is only superb - the car is way more direct and sometimes feels like it's got rear wheel steering - amazing. I was certainly carrying a lot more speed on my favourite bends to work this morning. Even in normal traffic driving the car feels great - really quick to change direction and responsive to every move - kinda reminds me of my old 205 gti (lowered with konis allround). And I haven't even had the wheel alignment done yet....

All that's left now is the adjustable camber bolts - hope to get these done on Saturday - and fitting the rear strut brace.
