My immobiliser doesn't like me!

At least i hope this is my immobiliser. If my car is left for over like an hour when I start it it will rev up like normal, then the revs begin to fall the whole way back down and the car cuts out. If I hold the accelerator to rev it up a bit it'll run fine but this is still pretty embarressin when everyone's watchin u get into this pretty lil sports car then when get in and start it, it's conks and everyone laughs and i cry. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

do a search for "stepper motor" it may be the culprit.

doesn't sound like an immobiliser problem anyway.

If it was the immobiliser youd have to disarm the alarm to get it to start again, My car started doin similar a while back, I reset the ecu and subsequently stepper motor, been grand ever since. Like Colm said do a search for stepper motor in the knowledgebase. Give you a better understanding of how it works if nothing else.

I get the exact same problem but only after filling my tank to the neck,every other time it starts on the button...very odd

MMh yeah try cleaning the stepper motor.. cant hurt... very quick job.

Ya I cleaned it yesterday and drove round for bout an hour. No joy.

Assuming the wiring to the stepper is intact (sometimes the wires can break at the plug), I'd suggest you get onto Camskill and invest in a new stepper motor. Cleaning the old one can remedy the problem but not in all cases.
