It happens to some people, not sure exactly what causes it, maybe pulley with a worn bearing (wobbling), belt not correctly put on first day, or something like that.

Mustang had to replace his belts a few times because of it.

Alternatively it might just have been loose? Is the belt frayed or does it seem fine?

You could probably get a replacement belt (Gates make or the like) in any motor store, they seem to include the FTO in their catalogues these days. Alternatively Camskill & Ricerocket should be able to sort you out.

any motor factors should be able to help you.. just bring what ever bits you have left of your belts with you..

also - do a search on the forum for Belts - you should find a good few posts on it.

The gates part numbers are 4pk948 and 6pk1017. With these part number a motor factor will know what size belt to supply.(Gates or other manufacturer).
The first time the belt came off, was it at low rpm? I am guessing so, as it was not damaged and didn't take the other belt with it. If the belt is comming off at low speed I'd put it down to bad fitment i.e. loose. If it's comming off at high rpm I'd say it's a tensioner/crank pully issue.
According to camskill the crank pully splits in two casusing an imbalance.

For a finish I replaced all belts, tensioners, and the crank pulley.

Southside Motor Factors on the Kylemore road have these belts in stock. I changed mine recently. Not expensive either!

Don't assk them for parts for the FTO, they told me that when I called them too. I brought down both Mitsi & Gates part numbers and he had them on the shelf. I'll dig out the Mitsi parts numbers & post them tomorrow!
