Postby zacob » Fri Apr 01, 2005 8:29 am

Lads

I noticed the 95 GR for sale has a wiper on the back of it. Is ther different spec GR's as I have a 96GR and it dosn't have any wiper on the back.

Cheers

The rear wiper wasn't standard (on any model), it was a factory option.

Should have been standard equipment on the FTO - I had one on my last GR but my present GPX doesn't have one - real pain in the ass not to be able to clear the rear screen.

I dunno, its a personal preference really. IMO, the cleaner lines afforded by the lack of a rear wiper outweights the usefulness of having one in place.

Ya, personal preference I guess, I have one and wouldn't be without it.

About 3 cars back I had one without a rear windscreen wiper and I swore that I would never buy one again. But then I saw the FTO and broke my own rules.

I noticed a rear windscreen with a wiper in onew of Steelroes pictures and toyed with the idea of buying the windscreen etc and fitting it to mine.

Now I just put the rear heater on when it's drizzling. And I keep a rubber blade thingy in the car and use it to wipe the class free of dew every morning.

I agree with CJ - I always thought the rear wiper took away from the lines of the car and looked a bit funny - I don't think I ever used my rear view mirror when I had my GR anyway

I need to use my rear mirror if only to see if there are any "choc-ice eaters with hairdryers" on the slip roads on the way out the dual carriageway to work or just for general awareness.

I never drove fast enough to annoy the choc-ice eaters (I swear officer) and was pretty un-observant at the best of times..... ;)

I'd take the wiper and maybe spray the arm the same colour as the body. I'm sure its not that noticeable on black FTO's for example.

sounds like a good idea - maybe even modify the mechanism so the wiper sites below the boot lid when not in use - there's a project for someone - develop/design a covert rear wiper for an FTO.... wavin pipe anyone...

I got a bit worried to be honest - looked like I had developed one of those dual personalities.

Think a strong cup of coffee is in order.

Aye, I think I might need more than a strong cup of coffee - maybe a brain transplant
