As bernard has already taken the first step here, I was wondering is anyone else interested in a bulk buy ofthis stuff? I am very interested. Bernard, can you get price on this and how muc is needed for an fto, as the details on site aren't really there. I would like to move quickly, as in by the weekend, so who else would be interested in this? I want to move quickly, because I will be changing my coolant hoses, so it's the perfect time.

Goz, you're jumping the gun here.
I'm hoping to get a price tomorrow but before we go ahead with a group buy I'll want to check the price locally first.
If the discount we get (including shipping from the UK) works out cheaper we can go ahead BUT the group buy thread will remain open for at least a week, probably two. Once the order goes in we'll have an additional few days wait I'd imagine before it arrives.
It's only fair that everyone gets a chance to opt in.
As you've already pointed out it can be bought in Portlaoise now so I suggest you pop down and buy it there if you're in a rush.

Im terrible with patience
I'm good to wait a couple of weeks though. I will be waiting for the hose kit either way. Keep us updated.

I got a mail back with the following prices, these are dependant on a total order of 100 litres (ie prep fluid & coolant)
From what I'm told the FTO takes just under 5 litres, so between the prep and coolant we'd be buying 10 litres each.
I'm still not 100% on the P&P but it will depend on weight.
5 litres Power Cool RRP is £64.95, with the discount it would be £51.96
5 litres Prep Fluid RRP is £39.95, with the discount it would be £31.96
We can also expect a new member in the near future in a similar vein to Opie oils.
Before we go ahead it would be worth giving Des Hughes in Portlaoise a ring for a price comparison.

Pricey stuff, but worth it if it lasts the life of the motor. P&P will add a good £10 minimum per head. Definitely worth checking the prices Portlaoise.

Ok so here's the deal on offer...
Thanks to Goz kindly letting us use his VAT number we can get a further discount by buying ex-vat, so the new prices are as follows for the corresponding container size...
25 litres Power Cool £199.83
10 litres Power Cool £83.27
5 litres Power Cool £43.30
25 litres Power Prep £133.17
10 litres Power Prep £53.27
5 litres Power Prep £26.63
All above are excluding VAT.
I'd imagine most of us will want the 5 litre sizes but say if you want a larger one.
Actually, can anyone confirm that 5 litres will do the job?
For 100 litres total quantity the delivery is £74.66 and anything over that is £85
So for 10 of us getting 5 litres of power cool £43.30 and 5 litres of power prep £26.63 it comes to £77.40 each including delivery.
Of course it'll all come to the one address so we'll have to sort that out ourselves...
If that sounds OK to everyone we can get a list going and hopefully put an order in in a week or so.

Cool. I'm in of course. So we're looking at €100 each then.
Just a suggestion about delivery. If its sent to one of us dublin folk, some of the orders couldbe deliveed to Finglas, where the Parcel Motel place is. If members have an account, they can pick up their order in most places in Dublin (one has to be chosen when registering). The outpost collection points are in Sallins and Newbridge in Kildare and there is one in Blessington, wicklow. There is also one in Ashbourne, meath. All that's needed is a name and a PMID (parcel motel ID) number and the orders go to the designated collection points. For those living much further out, it would be a bit of a problem though, unless there is a member, or two who travel the country a bit. I know Stewy would have been perfect for that.

Most members on here are in Dublin so it'll probably work out easier to have it sent there alright.
It's going to be 100+kg though and pretty big so I'm not sure if parcel motel cater for that, do they?
Let's wait and see how the list goes first and get it sent to where most members are.

No. But, what I meant, was if someone in Dublin takes the order, it could be split into individual orders for each member. Their name and PMID can be put onto their order and the orders dropped off at the Finglas branch. From there, they get delivered to what location each member selected. New registration gets to use the service for free, twice. All depends on who is closest to the Finglas branch. I'm not far myself in Dub 13. But sure we'll see what's best.

Will 5 litres of the coolant be enough? I read in a post from CJ back in 2010 that 7-8 litres of coolant was needed if I understood the post correctly. Post is here =>

If its 5 liters needed then I am in. If not then it will be too expensive to buy another 5 liters.

I highly doubt it's 7-8 litres. I changed my coolant before I sold the car and took 3-4 litres mixing it 1:1.

Cool. That sounds good. But if you're wrong we'll have to hunt you down.

It's getting confusing, Stewy says 3-4 litres, I've asked around too and am hearing just under 5, just over five, 6 and 6.5...

We need to get an accurate answer to this. Maybe Mitsubishi will have the answer?

I just contacted Westbrook Motors and they don't know how much goes in. The guy did say "we put in 2 litres of coolant and fill the rest with water." It's not exactly accurate though. Looks like someone is going to have to drain their FTO and measure the coolant amount. Perhaps someone who is breaking a car, like Otto or Gerry might be able to help there, rather than someone emptying their coolant, just to refill and have to do it again with the Evans mixture.

I went through the manuals and couldn't find the answer.
The guy from Evans said he checked on a website he knows and said it was just under 5 but I don't know what site it was or how reliable the info is.
As you said, perhaps someone breaking one could help out?

Maybe I needed a little less as my aircon system was removed.
Does that make sense or did I put it in the wrong place lol

I was over on FTOOC and asked the question. I was told 4.5 litres.

It would make sense, as it's not exactly a big car.....so I hope it's correct. More people have said under 5. Do we have anymore takers on this offer?

I got in touch with
SMC (FTO specialists) in the UK, they said the total capacity of the cooling system including the expansion bottle is 6.5L.
That tallies with the only other place I found the info online,
here.
I have no reason to think that info is wrong so it depends on what folks want to do from here...
