Door screw holes

Postby CJ » Fri Mar 19, 2004 9:39 pm

I've lost count of the amount of times I've had the inner door panals off the GPX, the problem now is that the plastic screw holes are threadless at this stage and won't accept the door screws properly. I've tried wrapping PTFE tape around the screws before driving them home but it hasn't sorted the problem. The doors are making the odd squeaking noise which I think is being caused by loose panals. Anyone any tips on how I might sort out the screw threads?

Are you talking about the little white plastic popper thingies or the 4 screws?

My door cards were squeaking after I put flashband all over the inside of the door but that's gone away. Now I just have the damn window guide rattling..... and some other very annoying knocking when going over speed humps - could be arb bushes I suppose (have a set for Paul to fit) as front drop links look ok.

I remember getting some of these little white screws for my old 205 gti for the door panels... you might not get the exact same ones but you should be able to get some that will do the job... although you might need to try a few motor factors.
