Overheating? I Think

Postby clement » Sat May 24, 2008 5:50 pm

Hi all

I ave recently got an Fto and all was well until today,

While driving the windows all fogged up. by this i mean that when i turned on the fan the windows clouded up instantly.

i tried wiping them but they were wet. :?
After a drive with the windows down it still wouldnt clear, eventually there was steam pouring out the vents into the cabin and a gurgling noise   ( not good). i checked the coolant bottle and it was fine but was a browny colour.
there was no scum on the inside of the oil cap however the oil level was at the lowest, this might be because it was just turned off and was fine about a wek ago.

Any Ideas what i could be faced with?

the car is a 95 tip mivec

thanks clement

Sounds like the air con, different system than the engine coolants. I've been lucky enough not to have had any problems with mine so far so I'm not well up on it. Check the passenger footwell in case you've got a leak from the system. I'm sure someone will be on in a bit that knows more about it than I do.

Welcome to the forum :-)

Sounds like the heating system alright.. could be your heater matrix.

Most likely cause alright, search the forum for 'heater matirx', many have been there and done that. You will most likely need to replece it, its time consuming and a dash out job. Suggest you don't do any serious driving until its fixed, keep a very close eye on the water levels.

Welcome to the forum by the way.
