mivec spark plugs,recommend any?

Postby plug1971 » Thu Oct 15, 2009 5:33 pm

Hi guys, can anyone advise me on good spark plugs to put into my mivec?
Are they different from front to back banks?

Can i use IK22 plugs for all 6 plugs?

Thanks for your help,
Neil

all the plugs are the same fitment, longlife plugs are recommended for the rear bank as they're such a pain to get to. better to have all iridium ones, Denso ones are said to be the best.
There's a guide to fitment HERE

Personally I'd go for NGK ones. The whole set of 6 are iridium unlike the set of denso, 3 are iridium and 3 are normal.
NGK are better value too. Denso plugs are known to chip and brake apart in the combustion chamber but I think that happens more so with turbo engines.

Here are the ones I'd go for

That's simply untrue. the camskill price is per plug. all 6 are the same.

Sorry, it was somewhere else I seen them sold as a set like that, 3+3. Must have been ebay.
Still £42 for 6 NGK iridium plugs from camskill is well good! Thats £7 per plug.
Much better value than buying 6 single one for nearly £10 each

I upgraded my rear plugs from ngk double platinum to denso iridium I22 recently. I upgraded the leads as well to Magnecors
Difference was really noticeable in the sound of the car from lower revs - really impressed.
They were due to be replaced though and hadn't been done in several years.

Are there gains to be had from Magnecor leads?

I would say that actual gains are negligible - but couldn't be sure. Very easy to change along with the rear plugs though.

Assuming the leads are in OK condition, you won't notice a difference. If one or more lead has started to break down then you'll notice a drop in performance and erratic \ lumpy idle.
