roof rack

Postby peteport » Tue Feb 02, 2010 1:00 pm

Hey guys,

was flicking around the net and spotted fto's with roof racks. Are there fto specific ones or would the generic ones do the trick ?

Cheers

Kace is the only owner I know of with a roof rack (made by Thule).

Where did you see the pics of the FTOs with roof racks on the web ?

Funnily enough I have never seen another one of these anywhere on any FTO Forum. Thule must have some warehouse stock gathering dust somewhere with loads of them - surely I didn't buy a one-off !!

I even got it in Ireland !!

Pete -

Unfortunately I don't think it will be that easy to find one of these for sale anymore. They were obviously available at some stage and someone must have them, so may still be worth checking out.

It wasn't cheap if I recall - more than £200 punts, but it did come specifically for the FTO. It grips invisible lugs at the top of the door behind the rubber strip so no issues with door opening / closing. Also fully lockable with keys so it can't be removed.

I would advise contacting Thule head office in Europe or US and asking who's got the stock of these - they must be out there somewhere gathering dust. Part numbers etc. are all in the post linked above.

Reminds me of a time a few years ago when I was transporting some windsurfing boards, sails etc. down to Galway and I was parked up outside a bar in the IFSC. Couple of women came out of the bar and said "jesus would you look at this eejit with the surfboards up on top of a feckin sports car"

Others are nonplussed when they see 2 kids seats in the car and various toys and dolls lying about in there.

Some people just don't see the versatility of the FTO :D
