Postby cullen5998 » Sun May 02, 2010 3:46 pm

My alloys are getting a bit tatty looking. Im not sure if i want them black either. Anyone have any experience with getting them refurbished? I think silver would look well with the car what you think? I'll Stick up a few pics of them later.

Definitely do it yourself unless they're kerbed/cracked/buckled.

Very easy and cheap enough to do so that if you don't like the colour you can change.

I've gone from all black - all white - black with polished lip. If you spend a bit of time at it you'll reap the rewards.

Downside is unless you have spare wheels you're going to be without the car for a while.

Are they standard wheels you have or aftermarket cullen?

I've refurbed those "Work RSR" wheels a couple of times. They started out white - then I powdercoated them black - then the powdercoat started to spiderweb so I refurbed them again just using cans of black spray paint - the last option worked out best as it was easy to just touch up when neccessary.
They are a very high quality Work forged magnesium rim - would be worth keeping them on the FTO.

Cullen - heres your FTO when it had white rims -

And when I sprayed them black (just cleaned, sanded, masked off the rim and sprayed with tins of black spray paint for metal).

Looks nice with the white rims, i think i'll have a go at refurbishing them myself in a week or two when i have a bit of time.

Hard to know what colour though, i really like the white and black :)
