check you bonnet catches

Postby miss-enzo » Sun Jan 27, 2008 11:56 pm

.............or this could be u like it was me today :(

clip was kinda stiff a few weeks back, had planned to get new one fitted durin the service this week.
i opened bonnet today to check sizes for new bulbs closed it, checked it.... drivin down the rd overtook some car 2 mins later bonnet flips up and smacks off the roof (while still attached tot he hinges!) no damage to the windscreen (thanks feck cause theyre 1k for my car!) but the bonnet was mangled... no savin it
could have been a hell of alot worse i know but feck me i got some fright!!

unfortunaly Lee didnt take any of it on the car as he taut it inappropriate when i was hyperventillating in the front seat so the pics are only after if was taken off the car and jumped on to try and straighten it out!

WHAT I LEARNED TODAY: if u think sumit is kinda dodgy and needs replacin DO IT sooner rather than later

Tough break! Think if that happened me I prob would have got such a fright even slamming on the brakes would have been out of my mind! You def got away with the very least of damage. And at least everyone was ok.

Funny thing is I had a guy here today to do some work on his FTO and he was telling me about the red one he saw in limerick yesterday with the bonnet flipped up. Said you were lucky there was not more damage.

did he see it????

one thing i noticed is that other motorists dont givea flyin f**k about other ppl. i was pulled in for a bout 15mins before the lads srrived and not one person stopped or nethin! ppl are so ignorant if i was behind a car that happened too (and if i had someone in the car with me) id stop and make sure the ppl were ok!
